Reserve Team Match reports season 2007/08

West Wickham 1  v  HSBC  0

A hard fought victory for Mark Robert's squad against a strong HSBC side -- the game was won near the end with an excellent goal converted by Joe Ivory who picked up a delicate through ball from new boy Greg Brown rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home from an acute angle. This was a cool piece of finishing and gave us a deserved victory as we were well on top for most of the game. The Bank had one period of ascendancy but found Steve Foster in great form in the Wickham goal making to fine saves in quick succession.

Stu Owlett made a rare appearance, playing the last 25 minutes without mishap and we know that he has a huge amount of talent -- let's hope he will use it this season to help us defend the Championship. Chris Tookey also returned after an ankle problem which was good to see and Mad Dog Freeman made sure that the threat to our goal was minimal. Man of the Match was Lee Cornwall who put in a tremendous amount of work and showed both great skill and strength both in attack and defence. I was impressed with Rockin Boy Roberts, fresh from his holiday in Majorca. Generally the side played well enough bearing in mind that Mark included a lot of new faces and prospects look good for the coming season.
